Some of the conservatives in your country have gone kind of... unhinged since Obama won. I guess they actually believe all the rhetoric they threw around during the election, which should have been just that, election rabble-rousing. But the rabble apparently remain "roused". I hope they don't spend his entire term trying to churn up trouble they can try to blame on him.

As a scientist and a Canadian, I hope that the Obama presidency is good to American science, it has been horribly mistreated and disrespected for a long, long eight years.

That is a ludicrous statement, even thought I loathe Obama and everything he stands for. But it is curious. What exactly DID Biden mean?

As for "rhetoric thrown around during the campaign"...You mean like pretty much EVERYTHING Obama promised that he's already backing out of. Iraq time able. Tax breaks. Universal health...you name it and he's backing out as fast as he can.

Wow, I'm surprised people like "Jenn of the Jungle" bother to read blogs about science. I can't imagine it interests them much.

Every politician makes promises, some are kept, many are not (for reasons ingenuous or disingenuous). But questioning your opponent's faith, patriotism and even citizenship is undoubtedly a Republican specialty. That's what the deplorable "rhetoric" was.
