WTF?! What were this person's credentials?
A substitute teacher in a high school bio class had students pricking their fingers to take a blood sample, and then pass the needle on to someone else! If this isn't a good reason to require all teachers to have degrees in their subjects, including substitutes, I don't know what is. I don't even get why they'd let a sub run a lab anyway. STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!
Thank you for visiting my blog. Wow, in Florida we haven't been allowed to do blood typing for years. I miss it, but of course as a teacher I was never stupid enough to share lancelets. Years ago when I did this in Biology I had them disinfect the finger and we carefully disposed of all wipes. This teacher is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
ReplyDeleteI've listened to it a couple more times, and I think it was actually a middle school class. I did blood type in 9th grade, and some middle schools are grades 6-9, so it's not entirely unreasonable, but still... Oy.
ReplyDeleteThere's reasons I'm a physics prof, and not any other type of science.
I am gobsmacked!
